Taliesin, or now as he thought Valren, and Raina walked all day through forests as the land became hillier. As the sun was nearly set the two began to make camp. Since they were in a forest Raina had an idea...

Caraether looked all around the village for Raina. Where is she? Then she heard. Raina had left. "She went without me?!" Caraether exclaimed, shocked. Raina had promised that they would go on their first adventure together. "Oh well, she's still not going with out me." she thought. She quickly packed her bag, and left. She tracked carefully, but quickly. She only rested two times that day. By the time the day was over, she was exausted. She suddenly stood up straght as she suddenly picked up the scent of smoke. She carefully followed the smell, her hand clutching her soward hilt, ready for battle. She suddenly heard a noise behind her, heard an arrow whis by, and felt sevear pain in her back. Even through her pain, she ran with all her might. She suddenly appered in a clearing, with a fire lighting around the clearing. She saw Raina look up surprised, and gasp with shock at Caraether entering the camp with an arrow in her back. Caraether, suddenly overwhelmed with pain and weariness, fell forward as everything went black.

Taliesin stood up fearful. They had made campment in the boughs of a great oak tree and had lit a fire below it. Raina and him had been sitting there talking about which way to head when they heard a yelp of pain and something ran through the bushes. Instinctivly he stood up a placed his hands into a conjuring position he looked down and saw that it was just a girl....but she was shot at. Raina ran to her. " Cara!" she cried. Taliesin looked down at his hands. Thats strange why had he done that? And...he was sure that for a second, just one second, he had seen a blue light form in the air between his hands..."Strange..." He whispered. Remebering what happened he shook himself out of thought and ran to the palce where the girl was lying. Raina was sobbing and was already trying to tend the wounds with herbs from her pack.

Cara grumbled in pain. She heard voices, and someone crying, but she couldn't make sense out of anything.

Raina shook her hair out of her eyes. "Cara" She murmured. Then she turned to her friend, and they both carried the still girl into the circle of firelight.

Raina smoothed The girls sweaty brow. "Hush" She whispered soothingly.

Anira stared at the bow in her hands in dismay. Her lord had sent her, the most skilled of all his archers, to kill the boy. Instead she had missed and shot an innocent girl. The lord would not be pleased if she returned empty handed. Quicked minded as she was, Anira soon had a plan to get the boy. She stashed her bow and placed a jaunty smile on her face. They could not know friend from foe. A mischeivious look crossed Anira's face. This was the game she played best. One morning, when they least expected it, his companions would wake to find both of them missing. She would not return empty handed after all. Anira enter the clearing and a look of mock dismay crossed her face. "Oh, dear! Did they get her? When I saw those two men run past me carrying bows I feared the worst. Who would do such a thing to a poor little girl?! Is there anything I can do to help?" Anira lied with such ease that even her face gave away nothing.
